Our Starter Kit comes with five of our favorite tools that each help shape clay in different ways and at specific points in the throwing process.
This month, we released a limited edition pair of Triangle Tools and have been thinking more about the basic shapes that prove to be workhorses when we are transforming clay.
Check out the finished form below that we made using our Starter Kit, and see how each of the tools came into play to help create the vessel:

N3 provides simple straight sides and one angle that can help straighten a cylinder at the beginning of throwing or support an angled wall - like you see here.
S2
S2 has some curves, and its crescent shape cutout provides the perfect template for bumping out walls and getting the exact same result again and again.
T1
This is our classic knife tool, and it works perfectly to clean up the base of a pot towards the end of throwing. Its sharp tip can cut down into clay to remove excess and provide your vessel with a bit of a lift.

Although I1 is hiding in this photo, you can trust that the taller shape with its perfectly rounded ends is great for compressing and shaping the inside base of any size pot!

This is our classic kidney shape and can be used in so many ways. Run it along your surfaces to clean up your work, compress your lip with its curve, or use it to help move clay quickly and smoothly into your ideal form.
